Fortuny is the well-known restaurant of Javier Merino. Located in Rubén Darío, one of the best areas of Madrid ..I have always liked Fortuny, i has always gone over the years, usually take a gin and tonic on the outside, although this time i discovered his restaurant.

Fortuny is the meeting place of IT and other celebrities of the capital. There you can find from entrepreneurs, fashion designers, me or some other tv reality character.

The palace houses a bar on the first floor and the restaurant on the second and third floors. It’s decorated in a mixture of chic and eclectic by decorator Pascua Ortega.

As starters we ordered Gyozas, Baos and Herbal delights. I loved the Gyozas … I am a total fan of these Japanese patties and it’s a pleasure to have them in the menu. Although what drives me crazy is Ha Kao, which is a type of Chinese dumpling made with rice wafers.

Another of the entrees is the Gua Bao, is a kind of “sandwich” or giant pattie with origin in Taiwan. The special feature is that the bread where the stuffing is introduced is boiled instead of baking, the result is a very soft and fluffy bread that melts with the stuffing of chicken and vegetables.

The third entree was a bite of herbs, puff pastry which are filled with scallops.

From first and to follow the gradation of texture of the entrees, we continue with some Sushi, long ago it’s the fashionable dish and I can not be without it, I love Asian cuisine. We ask for two types of Sushi, the Butterfish uramakis in tempura, and Alaska rolls.

Of second plate, after some Sushi and to continue with rice as main ingredient, but this time more consistent I asked for a Risotto of Carabiner Shrimp. Accompanied by a glass of verdejo wine from D.O. Rueda. If you go to Fortuny, you have to try the Risotto of Carabiner crayfish, It’s soft, marine, creamy whose main character is the Risotto of Carabiner crayfish. It was the dish that I most liked.

For the end and by third plate we continue with the marine presence. We savored a light dish with a touch of spicy: Squids on Huancaina sauce with cassava chips. Clearly a dish with Peruvian reminiscences. Delicious but lacking in personality, the squids are delicious, but the cassava gives it a fun and cool touch, but it does not continue with the consistency of the rest of the dishes.

To finish, we tasted the dessert. I am a lover of milhojas, And until now I thought that the best are made by Pomme Sucre, but after trying the “Arab Cake” my eyes were opened, and I said that is the best milhojas I tasted. Small and delicious, you feel like asking for another. In fact I would go back to Fortuny just to return to eat the Arabian Tarts.

The best of the restaurant has been the excellence in the treatment, the privacy, the quality of ingredients and a perfect finish in the dishes. The menu is well selected and serves as a trendy restaurant.

The worst thing about the restaurant is the noise, because the bar is downstairs and the sound slides all over the floors. This did not bother us much, even though I hate the noise while I eat. However in Spain it is rare to go to a place that does not have noise or where people do not paste voices, is something that you get used to.

In short, Fortuny is a place where you going to be seen and see, if you like the elegant and private restaurants Fortuny offers you to taste a delicious and without leaving the site after being able to take a Gin Tonic to continue the night, in the most select environment of Madrid.
